EIDU Kenya's programme now operates with greater autonomy in decision-making at country level.

Fredrick Seda has been appointed Managing Director of EIDU Kenya, leading the Kenya team and EIDU's work with the Ministry of Education, The Teachers Service Commission, the semi-autonomous government agencies and the county governments across 32 counties.

This appointment is a strategic step to consolidate EIDU Kenya’s progress and strengthen delivery as the programme continues to scale. Kenya is one of EIDU’s most established country programmes, with deep partnerships across national and county governments. As the programme grows in reach and complexity, EIDU is strengthening its in-country leadership to ensure that decisions are made closer to implementation, partnerships, and the education system the programme supports. .

The Ministry of Education and county governments set the direction on foundational literacy and numeracy. EIDU’s role is to support those priorities with strong implementation, evidence, technology, and delivery discipline. Under this structure, accountability for EIDU Kenya’s performance now sits with a leader who has spent his career in Kenya’s education sector and understands the policy, delivery, and partnership environment in which the programme operates.

This gives EIDU Kenya greater autonomy and agility in decision-making. A programme operating across 32 counties requires fast, context-informed decisions taken close to the schools, county offices, and national institutions where implementation happens. EIDU Kenya will lead its strategy, budget, hiring, day-to-day management, and the adaptation of EIDU’s global standards to the Kenyan curriculum and classroom context.

EIDU’s global team will continue to provide the standards, frameworks, pricing principles, and cross-country systems that ensure quality, consistency, and learning across markets. This balance allows EIDU Kenya to move with the speed and contextual understanding required locally, while keeping its work connected to the organisation’s global evidence base and delivery model.

Government engagement will continue to be led from Nairobi. Seda holds decision rights on partnerships within Kenya and leads engagement with the State Department for Basic Education, the Teachers Service Commission, KICD, KNEC, and county education teams, working closely with Lilian Gangla, Head of EIDU’s Government Relations in Kenya.

Seda has been transitioning into the role since the beginning of 2026 and is already well known to EIDU’s national and county government partners. He brings deep experience across education, technology, and public-sector delivery. He began his career as a teacher and went on to found Cornerstone Tutors, a Nairobi-based tutoring centre that employed and mentored more than 50 young graduates. He has since held Director-level roles across the education and technology sectors and brings 15 years of senior leadership experience to the role Seda holds a Master's in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi and a BSc in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from Egerton University.

"The Ministry of Education and the county governments have set a clear direction on foundational learning," said Seda. "There is a lot of progress being made. My responsibility is to ensure that EIDU is useful to that work, and that the decisions affecting our county partners are taken here."

Existing agreements remain unchanged. Memoranda of understanding, county partnerships and programme delivery continue as before.
